Program Director

Madrona School on Bainbridge Island, WA seeks a Waldorf grades teacher with demonstrated leadership abilities to join our administrative team as the new Program Director. Working in close partnership with the Head of School, responsibilities will include leading on-going program development and visioning, teacher guidance and support, student and family support, and assisting with daily operations.  

About Madrona School:
Founded by a group of committed parents in 1999, Madrona School serves approx. 145 children in parent-child classes, preschool, kindergarten and 1st through 8th grades. Our collegial group of 20 dedicated teachers and staff and community of parents are committed to providing Waldorf education in Kitsap County. This is an exciting time in the school’s development as we have outgrown our rented facilities and are on the brink of launching a capital campaign to build a new campus on a nearby 5-acre farm property with a large working garden.

A developing member of AWSNA and WECAN, Madrona School participates in a consortium of nine Waldorf schools around Puget Sound.  

About Bainbridge Island:
Living on beautiful Bainbridge Island (population 25,000), we enjoy a quieter pace of life while being able to access the amenities of bustling Seattle just a 30 minute ferry-boat ride away. The school campus is located on the edge of the village of Winslow, an easy walk to beaches and the ferry in one direction and the public library and swimming pool in the other. Bainbridge is known for its rich arts community and easy access to parks and the water. For the more adventurous, the Olympic mountains to the west and the Cascade mountains to the east are within a 1-2 hour drive for hiking and skiing.  

Compensation:
Salary for this full-time, benefitted position is based on experience and training. Benefits include health insurance through a funded HSA plan, long-term disability insurance, 50% tuition remission, and funds for ongoing professional development.  

Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and Waldorf teacher training with substantial Waldorf grades teaching experience. Experience in remedial education and/or school counseling desired as well. Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills that support strong leadership skills exercised with an attitude of collegiality and teamwork.
