Handwork Teacher, May 2019

Madrona School is seeking a Handwork teacher for 1st - 8th grades (16 periods/week.) We seek a candidate who has relevant teaching experience, a deep love for working with children, and effective teaching skills that nurture developing capacities in children. The handwork program involves students in a sequence of projects that require persistence, cultivate manual skills and create an experience of satisfaction in producing handmade items that are useful and beautiful.

The ideal candidate will be a have an array of fiber arts skills (knitting, crochet, weaving, hand sewing and machine sewing) along with excellent classroom management abilities, effective communication skills, and professional striving. An interest in Waldorf pedagogy and philosophy and an ability to work collaboratively with the main lesson teachers is a must. An interest in understanding the character of each child is also important.

This is a 60% FTE salaried, benefitted position including 50% tuition remission, health insurance, and long-term disability insurance. Salary DOE.
