Seashore and Woodland Adventure Camps
Led by Madrona Teacher Isaac Kemsley

$350 per week
Drop your adventurers at a different park or beach each morning and we will explore the forests and shorelines of our beautiful Bainbridge Island during some of the sunniest days and lowest tides of the season. Hike, climb, dig, and discover natural wonders; all while playing with a group of peers. Each day will involve a hike, exploration of wild spaces, child-led play, stories and discovery. Teacher Isaac has spent his lifetime teaching outdoors in the Northwest and together we will share stories and adventures.

Isaac Kemsley has worked with children for over 30 years, the last 18 at Madrona School as lead teacher of the Salmonberry Kindergarten/Pre-Kindergarten class. He has previously taught woodworking and handcrafts at the school, held the position of Faculty Chair, served on school committees and the Board of Directors, and parented 3 children who are now Madrona School alums.
A native North-Westerner, Teacher Isaac spent his childhood in Oregon, Southeast Alaska, and the Olympic Peninsula. He graduated with a BA from the University of Washington and received Waldorf teacher training from the Sound Circle Center in Seattle.
Spanish Camp
Led by Madrona Teacher Adriana Sanchez

Join Adriana Sanchez at Madrona School for a week of fun activities designed to grow their Spanish skills and enrich their cultural knowledge of the Spanish speaking world! There will be storytelling and music, conversational learning and a special craft.
Preschool Camp: Come Play With Me!

Join Teacher Susie at Madrona School’s Preschool Play Yard to enjoy all sorts of summer fun! There will be plenty of play time, circles, stories, and homemade snacks to enjoy together.

Storybook Camp
Led by Madrona Teacher Terace Yeatts

Storybook Summer Camps are literary-inspired outdoor adventures dreamed up by Madrona School teacher Terace Yeatts and alum Poppy Hufstader. Each camp brings stories to life through role-playing, child-led play, themed games, crafts, and imaginative quests.
Terace is an educator and lifelong theatre maker, and her daughter Poppy - a Madrona School alum and incoming junior at Bard College in New York - studies both the written and theatrical arts. Together, they weave storytelling, creativity, and nature-based exploration into unforgettable summer experiences for children.
Week One: Children of the Forest
June 29-July 3
Join us in bringing the magic of Elsa Beskow’s beloved children’s books off the page! We’ll play at being snowflakes, forest gnomes, fairies and flowers through a week of nature-themed games and crafts, using Beskow’s personification of the natural world to deepen our compassion for the Earth. Fun in Blueberry Land, the intriguing mystery of the Sun Egg, and an invitation to the Flower Festival await!
Week Two: Summer Sleuths
July 6-July 10
Dust off your sleuthing skills and step into a world of curiosity and adventure! Inspired by The Boxcar Children series by Gertrude Chandler Warner, young detectives will work together to interview interesting onlookers, spy on suspicious subjects, and follow foreboding footprints as they unravel a head-scratching mystery.
Week Three: The Enchanted Tea Garden
July 20-July 24
Inspired by the enchanting world of K. O’Neill’s graphic novel series The Tea Dragon Society, we’ll step into a delightful story filled with friendship, fantasy, and fun! Campers will discover the gentle art of Tea Dragon caretaking — tending the tea dragons, planting a tea garden, and preparing for the Tea Dragon Festival. This magical week promises creativity, connection, a touch of wonder… and of course, plenty of tea!
Week Four: Through the Wardrobe
July 27-July 31
The world of C.S. Lewis’s Narnia awaits! Step through the wardrobe and into a magical land filled with fauns, White Witches, and the lure of Turkish delight. Together we will embark on an epic fantasy quest sure to spark imagination, courage, and creativity. We will explore themes of bravery, friendship, and wonder as we journey deeper into the snowy forests and mythic kingdoms of Narnia.
