Madrona School Dean of Faculty Job Description 12/03/07

Reports to:  Board of Directors

Part time, 20 hours/week, year round, reduced summer hours

 

 

Program Administration

  • Manage the Program related business of Madrona School
  • Maintain relations among classroom staff, including faculty and specialty teachers, interns, classroom coordinators, Teacher Assistance Pool and volunteers
  • Provide support to faculty regarding parents and students
  • Provide support to parents regarding program related concerns 
  • Oversee classroom staff absences /cover 
  • With Business Manager, manage and monitor classroom and program related expenditures.
  • With input from faculty and Board, develop and administer program-level policies within higher-level Madrona School Program policies
  • Maintain and enforce student discipline policy
  • Bring program issues to College of Teachers or Faculty as they arise and work with College or Dean of Faculty to resolve or develop resolutions to take to Board as necessary
  • Assist with the admissions process: coordinating with parents, consulting professionals and teachers
  • Manage parent expectations
  • Provide support of classroom staff-parent relationships
  • Implement grievance procedures in accordance with Grievance Policy
  • Maintain parent education program
  • Manage and maintain Aftercare program
  • Provide input/oversight on buildings and grounds issues.
  • With input from faculty, assist College of Teachers in program development

·        Attend Faculty Council and College of Teachers meetings as non-voting member

·        Serve as Liaison from Faculty to Board of Directors as member of (Board’s)Program Council, and as non-voting member of the Board

·        Assist Board of Directors and College of Teachers in program development

  • Oversee Festivals Committee

 

 

Program Staff Management

  • Maintain contact with all classroom staff  to ensure proper workings among them, including full-time, part-time, assistants, specialty teachers, and substitutes
  • Develop and execute hiring procedure and policy, of all class room staff
  • Support classroom staff to maximize likelihood of classroom staff success
  • Administer classroom contracts
  • With input from Faculty and Board, develop personnel policy for classroom staff
  • Oversee classroom staff performance
  • Ensure professional development of classroom staff
  • Ensure mentoring of faculty and specialty teachers for development and performance
  • Maintain complete performance and career documentation for classroom staff   
  • Maintain classroom staff discipline with respect to compliance with policies, contracts and professional expectations
  • Oversee classroom staff performance with respect to assigned non-classroom work

 

Annual Planning

  • Participate in budget planning
  • Formulate annual planning objectives
  • Assess stakeholder needs
  • Prepare performance report of achievement of goals and objectives

 

General Administration

  • Provide support to the administrative team as needed to maintain office function during school hours
  • Maintain good and clear communications among Board, administration, faculty, parents, and students
  • Provide content for weekly bulletin

 

Annual Administration

  • With Administrative Director, coordinate creation, production and distribution of Parent Handbook
  • Provide content for Annual Report
  • With Administrative Director and other admin staff, develop agenda and lead All School Meeting in September

 

With Administrative Director

  • Maintain contact with all classroom staff members to ensure proper workings among them
